A Modern Warehouse Wedding at Lightspace Brisbane : David & Marion

David and Marion’s wedding at Lightspace Brisbane was the perfect blend of modern city style and deeply personal moments. From the emotional ceremony to their incredible first dance, every part of the day felt like a true reflection of who they are - elegant, intentional, and full of joy.

As a Brisbane wedding photographer, I’ve been to many creative venues, but Lightspace has a special kind of character. It’s a converted warehouse with an industrial edge and an open layout, giving couples plenty of room to make it their own. David and Marion took full advantage of that. The floral styling by Beautiful Weddings & Events completely changed the space. The most striking feature was a hanging floral installation that looked like flowers were pouring from the ceiling like rain. It was bold, romantic, and impossible to ignore. Guests couldn’t help but stop and take it in - and neither could I.

We photographed their couple portraits before the ceremony, which worked perfectly for them. They wanted to keep the flow between ceremony and reception uninterrupted, and this gave us time to slow down and focus just on the two of them. No rush, no distractions. If you’re planning a wedding with a tight schedule or simply want more time with your guests, this approach is worth considering. David and Marion were completely in the moment during the shoot - walking together, laughing softly, sharing quiet glances. That’s exactly what I look for as a documentary wedding photographer in Brisbane - honest emotion, not just staged poses.

The ceremony was full of feeling. When Marion walked down the aisle in her gown from The White Aisle Bridal, the atmosphere in the room shifted. David’s face said everything. It wasn’t a grand performance - it was genuine, and that’s what made it unforgettable. After the vows, the space was reset for the reception. Long tables, warm lighting, and rich florals created a cosy, inviting feel. Then came the first dance. David and Marion moved in perfect sync, smooth and emotional, and the applause at the end filled the room with energy. It was the kind of moment that stays with you.
